Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is dedicated to the conservation of species inperil.
Award winning Fossil Rim Wild life Center is where you can see animals living in their near natural environment. It's located on 1800 acres of breathtakingly scenic open spaces and allows you to interact with deer, rhinos, giraffes and other wildlife. You can drive in the comfort of your own car, see at close quarters free-ranging herds of majestic African savanna wildlife including various antelope, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra, as well as the native deer through a 9 1⁄2 mile tour where you will see long distance views of savannah-like pastures, forested areas and hillsides where Fossil Rim's wild animals roam.

At the halfway point of the drive you can stop off for a hearty meal at the Overlook Café that has majestic views of the Chalk Mountain country that you'll have to see to believe. And while you’re there you can browse the Nature Store a fresh variety of wildlife gifts and souvenirs for the entire family. Driving Directions
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is located 55 miles southwest of Fort Worth and 75 miles southwest of Dallas, near Glen Rose.
From Ft. Worth: Take Hwy 377 out of Benbrook to Granbury. Go through Granbury until you cross the lake, then take the Glen Rose/Highway 144 exit. Go left at the light and proceed on Highway 144 for approximately 15 miles. Turn right on Highway 67 and proceed to the other side of Glen Rose. About 2 miles outside of town turn left on County Road 2008. The entry to Fossil Rim is on your right about one mile down this road.
From Dallas: Go South on I-35E a few miles past downtown Dallas. Take Highway 67 South all the way to Glen Rose. You will go through Midlothian, Venus, Keene and Cleburne. Proceed to the other side of Glen Rose. About 2 miles outside of town turn left on County Road 2008 . The entry to Fossil Rim is on your right about one mile down this road.

Travelers Notes
• Rain or Shine, Fossil Rim is the place to be. Come and explore nature at its finest any season of the year.
• The animals don’t care what the weather is doing. They’re always out and about. In fact, the rhinos love to slosh around in the mud when it is raining.
• Animal food is $7.95 per bag and we limit it to one per vehicle for animal health reasons.
• Halfway through the drive is a café, picnic area, gift store, children’s zoo and walking trail.
• Guided tours must be reserved in advance/no reservations needed to drive through in your own vehicle. Call 254-897-2960
Note: The giraffes will be put up in their holding yard every Thursday around 3:30 pm, in inclement weather, and as deemed necessary by Animal Care staff. As a reminder, giraffes are not to be fed by visitors when they are in the holding yard.
